Hobson Leavy are thrilled to announce that Nicki Sutherland has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer for Electricity Engineering Association.
Nicki is a lawyer by background, having spent the first fifteen years of her career in private practice focused on major capital projects and infrastructure operations – giving her solid exposure engaging with engineers and “living in their world”.
This included ten years working in Australia for the likes of Mobil, Delta Electricity, Transfield, and TransGrid. Upon returning to New Zealand, Nicki joined Transpower in 2013. She initially served as Senior Corporate Counsel before taking on the role of Head of Customers. Motivated to broaden her people management experience, Nicki moved to MBIE in 2019, helping lead the Provincial Development Unit (PDU) where she was responsible for an investment portfolio worth over $2.5 billion.
In 2021, Nicki joined Energy Efficiency & Conversation Authority (EECA) as GM Investment and Engagement, where she oversaw its business investment, education and partnership programmes – including the $1billion Government Investment in Decarbonising Industry Fund.
Nicki will be joining EEA in September.
Please join us in congratulating Nicki on her appointment.
