Carrie Hobson has over 25 years’ corporate experience, initially in Banking & Finance and latterly in Executive Search. She held senior positions in corporate banking with major banks in both New Zealand and the United States and has worked with top-level executives optimising financial performance and implementing company strategy. She has held directorships in both the private and public sectors, with particular expertise in finance, health and human resources.
Carrie was a partner with another leading New Zealand executive search firm before founding Hobson Leavy with Stephen Leavy in 2006.
Carrie has a B Com (Hons) in Economics from Otago University and is also an approved Certified Finance and Investment Professional (CFIP) and a member of the Institute of Directors. She has completed the Advanced Course in Executive Search from the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labour Relations in New York.
Carrie has worked closely with not-for-profit organisations at a strategic level, was previously Chief Executive of the St Joseph’s Mercy Hospice Foundation and has been a visiting lecturer in Corporate Governance at the Auckland University of Technology.
Carrie was a member of the National Heart Foundation Leadership Team that campaigned successfully to raise $5 million to establish the Chair in Heart Health at the University of Auckland. The Chair was successfully launched in 2011 with the appointment of the first Professor in Heart Health.
Carrie is Ngāi Tahu. She is married and has three children.
