Hobson Leavy is delighted to announce that Marcus Blackburn has been appointed as Head of School at St Peter’s School, Cambridge.
Marcus is currently the Deputy Headmaster and Head of Senior School at St Peter’s College in Adelaide, one of Australia’s leading independent schools. In this role, Marcus coordinates the operations of the senior school leadership team, interweaving and influencing the academic, pastoral and co-curricular aspects at a strategic level. Marcus has also played a critical role in helping the School successfully navigate the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, whilst paying close attention to the wellbeing of both staff and students.
Beyond his current senior role, Marcus has broad international leadership experience as an academic faculty leader, boarding housemaster, co-curricular leader and, away from the school setting, is a former international rugby sevens coach and published author in this field.
Marcus has a proven track record in optimising academic progress and outcomes, and a strong working knowledge of the complexity of large boarding schools. Marcus held a key leadership position at Bradfield College, one of the UK’s leading co-educational boarding schools, which was awarded Co-educational Independent School of the Year during his tenure. Marcus’ vision and priorities have consistently centred on delivering outstanding learning experiences for young people, strengthening the vital partnership between home and school, and nurturing an enduring and energizing sense of belonging within school communities.
Marcus’ experience in some of the world’s leading schools – including King’s College School in Wimbledon, Raffles Institution in Singapore and The Scots College in Sydney – positions him well to articulate and amplify the distinctive offer of St Peter’s School, Cambridge, an outstanding school with a unique ethos and setting.
Marcus will join the Cambridge community to lead St Peter’s in January 2023, along with his wife and sons.
Please join us in congratulating Marcus on his appointment.
