After a thorough international search, we are thrilled to announce Ian Passau will be joining Arvida Group as General Manager Development. Ian will play a critical leadership role in building out and delivering the Group’s diverse national development pipeline – leading site acquisition through to build completion.
Ian brings a depth of executive experience across construction and property development – spanning retail, residential, mixed-use and land development. Originally from the Waikato region, Ian spent his earlier career with Arrow International Construction in various project management roles. He went on to spend time with Perry Group, and was involved in the complex build of Hamilton’s SkyCity Casino.
Upon moving to Auckland, Ian enjoyed senior leadership roles with both Auckland International Airport and Foodstuffs North Island. Highlights over this time include partnering with local iwi and hotel corporates to develop the Novotel Auckland Airport, and the conceptualisation and delivery of various office buildings, retail, industrial and other hotel developments.
Ian joins Arvida after a successful eight-years with NZX-listed Kiwi Property on the Executive Team. Here, Ian has played an instrumental role in the transformation of Kiwi Property into a developer of retail-led, mixed-use precincts. He has been extensively involved in leading the $290M development of Sylvia Park Galleria (Level 2) through the Covid Pandemic, and the securing of 53 hectares of land at Drury and leading the consenting process and plan change for the mixed-use and residential development of this land. Critically, Ian has also led the development team for Kiwi Property’s ‘Build to Rent’ programme in Mount Wellington – a 295-unit apartment block due to open this month.
Arvida is excited to have a leader of Ian’s calibre join the Executive Team. Given his breadth of experience across strategy, property development and construction, he will be well placed to help lead the business through its next growth phase. Ian joins the team on June 17th.
Please join us in congratulating Ian!
