Building on the theme of agile and innovative organisations, the following article is from our global Association of Executive Search Consultants, AESC. This article explores how legacy companies can take on the best of start-up culture in an increasingly competitive environment where technology is accelerating the pace of change. There is considerable emphasis being placed on the behaviours that drive effective “teaming” which is achieving great success in rapid product innovations and customer satisfaction uplift. New mechanisms for measuring performance are being created including recognition for teamwork, collaboration, and less obvious contributions. Furthermore by adapting a start-up culture, and changing the lens on talent is allowing large corporates to better compete for top talent who may have previously shied away from a career in a big corporate, by providing similar work elements.
Critically this article casts a lens on the profiles of successful transformative leaders defining them as strong at engaging people, good at cultivating innovation in others and people who have a lot of “conventional” emotional intelligence.
