Hobson Leavy are pleased to announce the appointment of Deborah Rowe as Associate Professor – Head of Nursing for Manukau Institute of Technology.
Deborah is a highly qualified health professional with clinical experience, strong leadership, a passion for teaching and genuine commitment for the betterment of the nursing environment.
Deborah graduated with a Diploma in Nursing in 1991, she then went on to complete a Bachelor of Health Science, Postgraduate in Health Management, Master of Management, Master of Health Science and has a PhD in Health Science, Nursing from the University of Auckland. Her nursing specialty is in neonatal intensive care.
Deborah has also been involved in various governance roles with medical committees during her career and until recently was the Chair of the Nursing Council of New Zealand. Deborah’s various roles in governance have allowed her to network with the Ministry and Nursing Councils and Committees and she has forged strong links not just with individuals and the community but also with Iwi, Hapu and various health organisations and hospitals.
Deborah has worked as an academic at the University of Auckland and more recently has been Director of Nursing at Te Whare Wānanga O Awanuiārangi developing the indigenous Māori health and nursing workforce. Deborah is of Ngāi Tahu decent.
