Hobson Leavy was delighted to be a Silver Sponsor at this year’s very successful Auckland Writers Festival. The Auckland Writers Festival broke its previous attendance record with more than 82,000 seats filled across seven days of conversations and performances throughout the city centre. The Festival, which has seen year on year growth in the last eight years, hosted 230 of New Zealand’s and the World’s Best Novelists, Play Writers, Song Writers, Historians, Children’s Writers, Illustrators, Journalists and Poets who took to the street, filled the halls and entertained in the festival tent, bringing new ideas and words to the many thousands who came to see them.
As a Silver Sponsor Hobson Leavy supported Richard McGregor, an award winning journalist. Richard McGregor has worked for the Financial Times in Beijing, Shanghai and Washington. His books include The Party – The Secret World of China’s Communist Rulers, Asia’s Reckoning – China, Japan and The Fate of US Power in the Pacific Century and a short book about Xi Jinping’s China. Richard spoke, both at the festival and to a breakfast attended by Hobson Leavy’s clients about the geo-political climate and the balance of power in our region as the power struggle between China and the United States intensifies. It was an excellent evening and we have included a pod-cast to Richard’s session for your information;
