Hobson Leavy is thrilled to announce that Andrew Cordner has been appointed Chief Legal Counsel for Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand.
Andrew is a highly experienced and well-regarded lawyer and General Counsel and brings significant commercial, regulatory, compliance, and litigation experience to this role. He is a highly respected people leader and has led large and high performing legal teams. He has also been responsible for leading the response to significant issues and crises and guided organisations and teams through these challenges.
Andrew brings a strong strategic and commercial acumen and an ability to navigate complexity in constantly changing environments to the role. He has had significant international legal and commercial experience across a broad range of geographies and has had considerable governance experience in both the public and private sectors.
For the last seven years, Andrew has been Director of Legal (General Counsel) at Fonterra Co-operative Group. Prior to joining Fonterra, Andrew was a partner a Foley Hoag LLP, a leading US law firm.
Andrew has a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce (in Accounting) from the University of Canterbury and a Master of Laws from Duke University (USA). He is a member of the National Standards Committee of the New Zealand Law Society and a Director of GNS Science, a Crown Research Institute.
