Hobson Leavy are delighted to announce that Hywel Davies has been appointed as Technical Manager – Methanex NZ at Methanex Corporation.
A chartered engineer and fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, Hywel has had a significant career in the major hazard chemical industry prior to taking on this latest opportunity. Hywel says he has found a very strong personal fit with Methanex’s values and operational discipline. He was particularly attracted to the role because of their commitment to the New Zealand and global transition to sustainable methanol production, as expressed in their recently released Here for the Future campaign.
Hywel graduated from the University of Bath with a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering before completing a graduate development programme at ICI Chemicals and Polymers. He then spent twenty years working for Dow Corning in a variety of technical, leadership and process improvement roles at locations in the UK and the US. In the US, he was the Project Instrument / Electrical Lead for a major new facility constructed in Tennessee before relocating to Michigan to take over the start-up and successful commercialisation of a new production asset as Operations Manager.
Hywel and his family relocated to New Zealand in 2014 to take on a lead technical and then Surface Engineering management position with Shell Todd Oil Services, which was subsequently purchased by OMV NZ.
Please join us in congratulating Hywel on his new appointment.
Thank you to our team at Hobson Leavy who worked on this search; Lauren Shearer and Ellie Tomoana.
